We're thrilled that you found our animal enclosures to be so wonderful. We constantly evaluate their facilities to ensure their welfare needs are being fulfilled. Our animals frequently receive enrichment which helps to keep them entertained and stimulated in a naturalistic way which aims in mimic their behaviour in the wild. Our guests are a hugely important contributor to allowing us to make improvements to the zoo and we aim to offer good value to our guests. Our daily talks and feeds are definitely a must-see so it's great you were able to attend. Our knowledgeable staff are brilliant at what they do and are always happy to answer questions at the end of each talk should guests want to know more about our resident animals or the conservation work that we conduct in the UK and overseas. Although we do not have lions, we do have other big cats such as Amur tigers, Amur leopards, cheetahs, and snow leopards. Thanks again for your review; we hope to see you around the zoo again soon!

Thanks for your review, Victoria! It's great to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Marwell. Our exciting BRICKOSAURS! exhibition ran until September 1st and showcased 50 stunning sculptures. The world-exclusive event was created with more than two million bricks and highlights included the largest touring LEGO brick dinosaur model ever made – a whopping eight-metre T. rex. We’re so pleased you enjoyed the event! Just as you mention, our main outlet Café Graze can often get busy between 12pm and 1.30pm, so we recommend spending a little extra time exploring the zoo and having a late lunch. Thank you for your feedback, Corrina. We are sorry that you were dissatisfied with your recent visit to Marwell. We frequently receive positive feedback regarding the friendliness of our staff, so we are very disappointed to hear that you did not receive this same welcoming experience. We have hundreds of animals to see across our 140 acres of parkland and we recommend that guests take time to walk around the zoo slowly, with a patient and watchful eye, imagining that they are trying to see our animals in the wild. We give our animals the choice to be where they would like throughout the day, whether this is indoors or out in their paddock and it is for this reason that an animal may not be immediately visible. Most of our enclosures do also have indoor viewing windows, allowing guests to see an animal wherever they may be. Interactivity around the park has increased and so far, we have an Explorers trail, which allows you to collect stamps around the park, as well as interactive areas in most of our exhibits. There are new interactive screens also in the Tropical House which allow you to find out more about the animals as well as our large touch screen which shows the maps, daily talks and other information for your day. We also have a free Marwell Zoo app which allows you to learn about our amazing animals, either through an audio tour or simply on screen as you visit the animals. We’re sorry to hear you were disappointed with the price of food in our catering outlets. Our catering team takes pride in preparing quality, fresh food which is locally-sourced and we hope this reflects in the cost. All surplus goes towards the care of our resident animals as well as the important conservation projects we support in the UK and overseas as we are an action-oriented conservation charity. Guests are always more than welcome to bring their own picnic to the zoo, and you are able to stop wherever you'd like to set up for lunch or we have two indoor picnic huts in the park. We do in fact have hundreds of animals to see and recommend that guests spend 4-5 hours walking around the park with a patient and watchful eye, imagining that they are trying to see our animals in the wild. Animal welfare is of utmost importance and we give our animals the choice to spend time both inside and outside within their enclosures. It is for this reason that a paddock, for example, may sometimes appear empty. We do only have a few enclosures that are currently empty and if the animals in a particular enclosure are not immediately visible, they could be resting in their den or under a shady tree, so it is advisable to make time to pop back later. Our gift shop offers a wide range of responsibly-sourced, good quality products from trusted suppliers. The shop is operated by Marwell Wildlife and all profits are returned back to the charity. We are disappointed that on this occasion you were not satisfied with the variety of gifts on offer and your feedback has been passed on to the Retail team. Marwell does not have a non-smoking policy at this time, due to the nature of the park and the wide, open spaces, we do not fall under the law regarding this issue. As the park is so vast, we would be unable to police this to ensure that there is no smoking in different areas of the park, and as a charity we simply do not have the funds to enforce a policy of this sort at this time.
