We make sure that their welfare needs are our top priority meaning we are always looking to give them enrichment, as well as the best opportunities to seek shade, shelter, and privacy when they desire it. We're sorry you were disappointed that you were unable to get closer to our flamingos. Usually, they choose to stay close to the boundary of their enclosure, and in good view for our guests. We recently welcomed three flamingo chicks and they can also be seen in this area. Guests are able to take a ride on our rail train for a small fee and this takes you on a 15-minute journey around the front of the park, allowing close-up views of animals such as flamingos, a pygmy hippo, rhinos, zebras and more! Thank you for your review, Dennise! We're pleased to hear you have been visiting Marwell for a number of years and thank you for your continued support. By visiting Marwell you are contributing to the care of our resident animals as well as to the important conservation work we carry out abroad. It's great to hear you enjoyed getting up close to our lemurs in Lemur Loop! We have hundreds of animals to see across our 140 acres of parkland and encourage guests to think of the zoo as a walking safari, taking time to look carefully and imagining they are trying to see our animals in the wild. We suggest that if an animal is not immediately visible, they make time to pop back to an enclosure later in the day when the animal may have moved. Our exciting BRICKOSAURS! exhibition ran until September 1st and showcased 50 stunning LEGO® brick sculptures. We appreciate that the event may not have been to everyone’s tastes and our Events team ensured that the sculptures were placed in areas that allowed guests to still have great vantage points of our resident animals. We’d like to assure you that we did not replace any animals in favor of the sculptures and our selection of species has been driven by the guest journey, priorities for biological conservation & sustainability of populations and science. We’re sorry to hear you had some trouble with wasps at our bins around the park. We have regular visits from an external pest control unit who conduct surveys and help in trying to resolve the matter. This is something that we endeavor to combat in order to maintain a positive experience for all of our guests who visit the park. Thank you for your review! We're delighted that you had such a great visit to Marwell and that you enjoyed seeing our magnificent giraffes. Although we do not have lions, we do have other big cats such as Amur tigers, Amur leopards, cheetahs, and snow leopards. We're sorry you missed our meerkats during your visit! They had been moved from their usual space to a temporary enclosure at the back of Marwell Hall. This was due to necessary maintenance works and details of the move could be found on our website, social media and physical signage in the enclosure. Our prices are reviewed regularly to ensure that we stay in line with similar attractions of this type as well as offer good value to guests so we’re sorry that you did not feel the price of entry was good value for money. All surplus goes straight towards the important conservation projects we support in the UK and overseas as we are an action-oriented conservation charity. By visiting the zoo, you are contributing to our international work, as well as supporting our wonderful resident animals. We do have one Pygmy hippo at Marwell, Oliver, and he can be found in the hippo enclosure. This enclosure can be found on our Marwell map.
