claims are handled quickly and efficiently... monthly notifications via email regarding monthly premium payments.... polite and knowledgeable customer service officers when contact made....

Sorry, I am answering with the phone... I simply need to know, if my cat had an anaphylactic reaction before entering into the policy, but the vet was not able to find out the cause of it, so the cat is not covered for all future anaphylactic reactions, even if they can be caused by many unrelated events (insect stings, reptile bites, venomous plants, food...)?! The first answer I received was "the definition of pre existing condition", that I am aware because I signed you policy with you. The second answer was that "I can make a claim and the claims department will assess the claim according to the history from the vet", thank you so much for telling me that, but I prefer to know before that happens...

Hi Monica, There is provision under the policy for Anaphylactic but the final outcome will be determined by the claims department. As Petplan evaluate each and every claim that a policy holder makes on an individual evaluation we can not give pre claim approval to any matter. As any condition, injury, illness, accident etc can be different this is the reasoning behind this. I was not told upgrading my policy would make things pre existing. The whole reason i was upgrading was for better cover and now his not covered for pancreatitis. And i cant get him cover for it at all.

The 12 month Essential plan & our Covered for life plans are 2 separate products and while you can change from one product to another this is not a upgrade/downgrade - you would be cancelling one plan and commencing a new one and you will not have a continuation of the cover provided under the previous plan.Your Covered for Life plan commenced on the 4th of April 2017 and any injury or illness which occurred prior to this date is considered pre-existing under the terms and conditions of this new plan.It is important when taking out a new insurance plan that you review the terms and conditions to ensure they will meet your individual insurance needs. if you have any further questions our customer service team will be happy to discuss them with you on 1300 738 225.
