Hi Karen, I’m sorry to hear you didn’t find our pods delicious. Coffee is subjective (what one person loves another might hate) and we always knew it was going to be difficult to please everyone with such a limited range. However, I am interested to know how you prepare your coffee as this may affect the strength. Are you using the short or long shot button with our pods? Thanks, Toby

Hi Karen, thank you so much for the 5 star review!! In answer to your question, to keep our coffee fresh we still need to use a plastic/aluminium lid (which can be removed and recycled at supermarkets with soft plastic collection points - all Coles and Woolworths stores have this, along with some independents). Our lid is actually predominantly plastic, with just a very light coating of aluminium for the barrier properties. We also use a layer of plastic below the lid which distributes the water over the coffee evenly. If we combine this plastic and aluminium and then break it down to a per cup basis, this helps to put things into perspective; 1) to match the equivalent amount of plastic used in a standard 600ml water bottle, you would need to make 100 cups of Urban Brew and 2) to match the equivalent amount of aluminium used in a standard 375ml can of drink, you would need to make 5 million cups of Urban Brew.
