Very sorry to learn of this. If you could email us a picture it may help. My first thought about any layer on the bottom of a soap is it may not have fully traced, although if it is actually a layer on the top, not the bottom, it will be simple soda ash and is harmless and very common in small batches. If the soap looks good overall with no oily layer anywhere it's probably perfectly fine.
