AXA issued my no claims certificate, yet when I took out a new policy they need me to post them a copy of THEIR no claims certificate back to them for proof of no claims ???

I am sorry to hear of the issue you experienced with Proof of Bonus. The reason may not have been explained.
In order for us to finalise the policy we required the document back as you were looking to use the bonus with Axa. If the original document was not returned this could have been used on another policy which may have caused issues for your premium.
