Pleased to hear that the Bike & Barge cycling holiday was successful. Apologies if the tone of some of our replies seemed like that. We didn't mean to be!

The size of the group is important, however the ships do vary in size and the Amsterdam to Bruges tour is one of the largest sailings we offer.

We do not encourage child bookings on Bike & Barge holidays because of this kind of feedback that we have received in the past.The tour is sold by other companies and we cannot control this.

Glad to hear that the holiday was everything that you wanted though. Always nice to hear.

Thanks for your feedback. When we add on the itineraries at the end of the current season to the website for next year, we use the standard route options. Sorry that you were not offered the alternative starting option.

We have improved the websites to provide clearer information and will be amending the booking form shortly to include any alternative options/requests.

Thanks for the reply. This will help us plan for 2019 and make the little tweaks that make a big difference to a customer's holiday.

BOOKLET DIRECTIONS WERE OFTEN HOPELESS

We recommend someone from your company use the direction booklet and try to find his/her way. We had major problems every day and were very frustrated.

Sorry to hear that the route booklets were not up to standard. These do vary by the company that we use to operate the holidays. The mapping system used on the German cycling holidays is based on the Bikeline system that is popular in Germany and covers most (if not all) of the cycling network.

The booklets require cyclists to follow the lines and the route notes and can be a bit confusing as the route leaves on page, picks up another and then moves on again!

For next year, we are trying to make sure that every tour has GPX files available and sent to the customers prior to travel so preferred mapping systems can be used e.g. Google Maps.

No worries. Happy to have helped. This was one of the more challenging situations from the summer season, however I am pleased that the situation was sorted out quickly.

Glad that you enjoyed the route. The bike bottle issue is a familiar one, however you can use the panniers or handlebar bags to store drinks.

I have had this issue in the past whilst riding through rural France on a hot, sunny Sunday miles from the nearest open cafe or shop! We will mention that there are no water bottle cages on customer documentation in the future and advise customers accordingly.

Thanks for the feedback. Always good to hear that our booking process works.We are looking to improve this next season too with even quicker confirmations and better booking forms.

Eurobike provide the instructions and they use the Bikeline system which can be a bit confusing if you have never used the system before.

Next season, we are going to offer customers GPX files and provide them accordingly with every cycling holiday. This should give customers the option of following the paper routes notes or Google Maps for example.

Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate the detail of your comments.

We are going to ensure that all information is sent over quickly and more efficient next season. If you send over a request during the weekend, we will always have an answer by Monday. We also prefer to organise everything via email and then receive the booking forms electronically rather than by phone.

The bridges and ferries along the Danube are an important factor in the holiday as the route swaps sides in several places. The maps will be supplements by GPX files next year, so hopefully this will improve navigation and where to cross.

Good point about cards. Many German/Austrian cafes and restaurants are cash businesses and do not accept Visa/Mastercard etc. We will point this out in the pre-arrival information for future bookings.

The Bike & Barge holidays are on-sale for 2019. We normally grade the bike tours at Level 1/2 as they generally follow the flat riverside routes.

Good to hear that you made some nice people on the tour which is always an added bonus.
