I am sorry that you feel this way about your purchase at McCarthy Cars.
Please let me try to explain.
The reason that your vehicle was valued with tax was that when we spoke on the phone, you made a specific point of telling me that you had just taxed it. When I gave you the valuation over the phone, I took this into consideration. As I recall you had just recently purchased the Jeep, but it didn't suit your wife. So you were trying to exchange with spending as little money as possible, which is totally understandable. So to get to the highest possible part exchange value, I had to include the road tax. I am sorry if you do not feel that this was explained clearly enough to you. It wasn't done in any underhand way. I only noticed when I went to move your Jeep after the deal was done, that you had removed the tax from the windscreen without telling me about it. This is when I had to come and ask for the tax disc.
All of our vehicles are HPI'd checked and so I can assure that your vehicle certainly has not been written off or involved in a serious accident. It may have well had some paintwork, like 80% of all 6 year old vehicles. I am lucky that I have good vision, and I certainly didn't notice that any panels on the vehicle were off colour. However you are more than welcome to bring the vehicle back into us and I will take it to our bodyshop and they can give their expert opinion.
When I met you, you told me that you never trusted any vehicle services carried out car dealers and always preferred to have your vehicles serviced by your own mechanic. I did explain that wasn't our normal procedure, as we prefer for all our vehicles to have a Full Service and Pre-Delivery Inspection before our customers take delivery. However to accommodate your preference I agreed to allow you to take the vehicle without carrying out the Pre Delivery Inspection or Service. I also agreed to allow £500 discount to cover the cost of the service, pre-delivery inspection and a new MOT, even though the vehicle still had a current MOT. If you recall you signed a statement saying this on the sales invoice.
When carrying out Pre delivery inspections, we work to 3mm as a minimum recommended tyre tread and so the two tyres if below would have been replaced. We would believe that the cost of replacing the tyres would be covered in the £500 discount given to service the vehicle.
The headlamp wiper motor and rear wiper not working would have been addressed and fixed in our pre-delivery inspection. So please feel free to contact me and arrange a time to bring the vehicle in to us and I shall rectify these free of charge.
