As discussed on our call I have arranged for another 6 x Yew plants to be sent out to you. Yew is a slow growing evergreen conifer that produces red berries during the autumn that will attract hungry birds. So extra wildlife should hopefully be coming into your garden soon. The Hawthorn that you purchased are native, deciduous species, so your plants will have lost their leaves during winter, but they will now be bursting back into leaf and flower and will eventually produce berries. Your Pink Rosa rugosa rubra will add colour and wildlife interest into a mixed hedge, or for its prickly deterrent quality. It has richly scented, large open single pink flowers from June to September, followed by the largest hip of any wild rose - as large as a cherry tomato! Over autumn/winter when the plants are dormant the leaves turn brown, and the plants hold onto these leaves. As the weather warms up again in spring healthy new green leaves will push through. I hope your new plants are settling into their new home. Your Lonicera Nitida is an evergreen with tiny green leaves. Your new plants will knit together to form a beautiful dense hedge. They sometimes produce little white flowers in spring, and these will attract pollinating insects, and the dark berries that push through in autumn will feed hungry birds.
