Firstly, let me apologise for the confusion over the two weeks’ notice period that we ask for to end a storage contract. We have seen over the years that many customers use storage for longer than the time period that they had anticipated, and this is especially so when people are moving house like you were. In our experience it would not be fair on the customer to just have a fixed term contract as most people need the flexibility of extending their time with us if there are delays in the house chain etc. To allow for this flexibility, we therefore ask customers to give us 2 weeks’ notice when they are ready to leave and this should have been explained to you when you took the space. If this didn’t happen, I sincerely apologise.

In terms of photo ID, this is something that we require from all customers to set up a contract, and you should have been made aware of this when you reserved the space with us. We require some form of photo ID as part of our overall security procedures as we have an obligation to all of our customers to keep their items safe and secure. ID checks are a big part of that process as it allows us to monitor who has access to the secure storage areas of our sites. If this wasn’t explained to you in advance, then I apologise, and we will certainly take a look at what we say to customers before they visit us for the first time.
