Thank you for renewing your policy with Plan Insurance. On this occasion I had a personal involvement with your renewal behind the scenes and bearing in mind the circumstances and work undertaken to assist I wanted to personally investigate the case further. When your policy was renewed in 2014 you advised that you had an involvement with scrap or salvage vehicles. Due to the specialist nature of this business involvement it limited the insurers that we could approach and we finally arranged a competitive quotation for you via Tradewise Insurance. This policy fell due for renewal on the 20/05/15 and you advised that you were no longer involved with scrap or salvage and this meant that the whole market would now be willing to quote the risk. With the new information we were able to use our full panel of insurers and we were successful in finding not only a competitive quotation, but one that also offered you more cover. The quotation with Chaucer Insurance was £350 cheaper for a Comprehensive policy. Unfortunately on the 01/06/15 you contacted our office and asked if this quotation included cover for a recovery vehicle, specifically one owned by a friend. All road risk policies will exclude use of vehicles not owned by you or in your custody as a customers vehicle. On 02/06/15 the policy was renewed, however you were unhappy that the Recovery vehicle could not be covered by the Chaucer policy. You advised that the process had been far too much hassle for you and requested that cover be renewed on the original basis, including the scrap/salvage involvement at the figure of £1509.92. It is always our intention to offer our customers the best possible service. Contrary to your comments we have tried to obtain the best terms based on your confirmed requirements and did offer you alternative and cheaper terms. Not every eventuality is possible to cover and the borrowing of friends vehicles is one of them.
