Dear Stephen, High Risk Voyager is designed for travel to destinations where the FCDO recommends against ‘all travel’ or ‘all but essential travel’ including those areas where the situation can worsen rapidly. As these locations present a higher level of risk, the policy has stricter underwriting criteria than standard travel insurance, including lower age limits than standard travel insurance policies that exclude travel to these countries. Insurers will set maximum age limits on the basis of claims data and unfortunately they have to be set at some point, otherwise premiums would become uncompetitive.
