Hi, many thanks for taking the time to feedback on your trek. We certainly are having some fabulous weather here in the Alps so far this summer enabling you to have the very best of the views. I am sorry you had some minor issues, in response to your comments... Firstly & to give a little background to your self-guided itinerary, you are trekking in an incredibly busy year, when you booked in January availability of accommodation was already problematic. In one location on the trek, three of our usual accommodation providers had no availability, therefore, the only option for you was to stay in the Refuge Bonhomme. This makes the day between the Refuge & Courmayeur longer, however, when trekking from any of the accommodation in that area we always suggest taking the bus from La Visialle to Courmayeur. This makes the day far more manageable, 12 miles in total. This was outlined on the route card for that day & is also advertised on our standard itinerary on the website. The majority of folk take this option rather than walking the full distance to Courmayeur. With all our itineraries, there is always the option to tailor make an itinerary to suit your needs, we provide treks for folks with a huge range of range experience, fitness levels at all ages. if clients feel that some days are going to be too difficult then we can always add in additional nights to reduce the height gain, descent & distance. With regard to trail closures, I assume you were re-routed and were able to continue? Please let me know more specific information on this so we can inform other clients trekking this season. Finally, the installation of the new cable car at La Tour has meant that the old system is not operative this summer. My apologies for not mentioning this. However, does not affect the route. The day between Trient and Argentiere is an average day approx. 9 miles in total with the usual amount of height gain & descent. As the Route card indicates, the descent route goes via the Col des Possettes, and you can then either descend through the ski area to La Tour or continue your descent via the beautiful Possettes ridge to Tre-la-Champ to Argentiere. The cable car would only be used if you needed to make the day shorter or due to injury or fatigue. Despite this, I truly hope you had a fabulous experience on the TMB. Thanks for taking the time to provide your rating and comments Peter, delighted to hear you and your family had a wonderful trek. Your tailor made itinerary did include a remote cabin that is not used often on the standard TMB route, and we know is not accessible by road, hence no luggage. We were so sorry to learn this wasn't communicated well, hopefully you found our response quick and efficient. We do strive for excellence, however sadly on rare occasions, human error does prevail.
