Hi, many thanks for your feedback, it is much appreciated. We work extremely hard to provide our clients with a great experience from start to finish, thank you for your recommendation. With regard to the administrative process, we usually work with the lead booker in the hope that they will disseminate all information to their travel companion, I am sorry if you felt that this was a little clunky, we have many bookings to look after, and it is a complex process as I am sure you will appreciate. The Tour du Mont Blanc is a demanding trek, there is no doubt about it, the full route is approximately 170 kilometres in length with 10,000 metres of height gain & descent over mountainous terrain. All the information regarding the level required is given clearly on the website. The itinerary states the daily distances, height gain & descent each day, this alone is an indication of the level of fitness required. We also have designated pages for fitness & preparation and trek grading and ask if folks have any concerns to get in touch, which you did. It is very difficult to ascertain if your fitness levels are adequate unless you have done something similar in the past. Hi Jill, many thanks for talking the time to feedback us. As a guide and owner of Mont Blanc Treks I think it’s important to respond honestly to your comments. We are a small company based in the Chamonix valley. First and foremost, we are guides and lead our guided groups through these beautiful mountains all year round. As a guide I would never venture out in these mountains without the appropriate equipment, this includes a physical map, compass, and altimeter in addition to an electronic devise. Electronic maps are useful but on the flip side can also be totally useless in certain circumstances. Just one tool to be used in conjunction with alternative methods of navigation. All folks who have trekked in the Alps in 2022 have been incredibly lucky with the weather, we have had continual dry conditions since the start of the season. This has made it very easy to navigate your way around the Tour du Mont Blanc, even for the least experienced. In a normal year we see periods of poor weather, it is a very different situation out there without the blue skies, baking sun when the visibility is poor. From a safety point of view, you just can’t rely totally on an electronic device, it would be irresponsible for us to advise our clients to do so. We pride ourselves on the comprehensive information we send out to our clients, we have a vast amount of knowledge and experience in this part of the world. We feel there is something exciting about receiving physical information prior to travel, planning & preparation without using an electronic devise is all part of the adventure. In addition to this, in a world where folks are glued to media channels, is it not refreshing to not be totally reliant on using them, particularly when trekking through this impressive environment? If our service is viewed as old school by some clients, then so be it. With regards to your comment on WhatsApp rather than email. We provide all our clients with my personal mobile/ WhatsApp number. This is given on all the paperwork included in the pack. During the season this is our client’s main point of contact in case of any problems. With regards to your comments regarding the guide and group. Here in the European Alps we have one experienced guide per group, we feel the level of expertise of our guides in dealing with a difference of abilities is ample for everyone to have a fabulous experience. This is highlighted in many of our reviews. Although our guided treks are there to facilitate personal achievement, we hope that the folks that book on a group trek can work as a team and support each other.
