It would be a great service if it didnt keep blocking me out of my own account and not recognising my email address rendering it all useless.

As I understand this log in issue has been rectified now.
Customers create a unique Username when signing up that will be different to the email address. This sometimes can cause issues when customer are trying to log in using their email instead of Username.
