In the box inserts we sent with your Seed Potato order we tried to explain that Fall planting is different from Spring planting because of the Dormancy factor. All potatoes must go through a Dormancy period after harvest before they will sprout and grow. This Dormancy issue impacts Fall planting and lasts 4-8 weeks. The best procedure is upon arrival to store seed tubers at room temperature (70-75oF) and in the dark to speed-up sprouting. When tiny sprouts begin to emerge from the eyes you have your proof that the tubers have broken Dormancy. At this point they are ready to be planted. Jim
