We have confirmed with Drive-365 that you contacted their offices and advised them that you were aware of a problem prior to your departure from the UK yet you continued with your journey. Only after arriving on the continent did you call them and, as the car was mobile, and you had already driven a number of miles they asked you to go immediately to the nearest garage. You called their offices back and confirmed that you had done this and the fault was rectified.

When you were aware of the problem whilst in the UK, you should have contacted your UK Breakdown Assistance provider or driven to a garage and had this rectified. All insurance is only valid for unforeseen circumstances and when you drove to Europe is was foreseeable that the problem would not right itself

Thank you for your feedback.  You called us 1 month and 5 days after your original purchase of UK & European Breakdown Cover.  During our call you acknowledged that you had had a European Trip and had you broken down you would have been recovered.  You volunteered the information that your old car had 'died a death' but none of your private circumstances were provided nor requested.

As discussed during our call the Section of the Policy Wording which we both referred to reads as follows: ‘Your Right to Cancel this Policy -  If this policy does not meet Your requirements, please notify CompareBreakdownCover within 14 days of purchase for a refund of Your premium, providing no claim has been made against the policy. Please note that Your cancellation rights no longer apply after this initial 14 day period, You will not be entitled to a refund if the policy is cancelled.  This right of cancellation does not apply if You intend to make a claim. For annual cover that has already commenced, You will receive a pro-rata refund of the unused cover.’   This, the Policy Wording and all other Sections of the Policy Wording need to be read as a whole.

You were polite, pleasant and a conversationalist throughout our call.  When you asked why I asked you questions I made the same comments and explained that we talk to our customers so we may learn from any misunderstandings and if a change needs making to our processes we will make them.  At the end of the call, we offered to switch your cover to another vehicle without any charge and you said you would do that next week after you had disposed of the car that you currently have insured.  If, when you call to amend your vehicle, you wish to discuss this further then we will happily discuss any aspect of your feedback.
