I may be misunderstanding your explanation, but I am wondering if you may be using the bed incorrectly as the mattress goes on top of the bed and is stored on top of the bed when folded up so it should never touch the floor.
If you look at the images on the product page:

You can see how the bed looks when folded up and you can see that the mattress should never touch the floor.
Please let me know (ideally with a photo) how you are storing this so we can see if you are missing something.
