Thank you for your feedback. I have reviewed your comments with both our Nursery and Despatch Teams as both of them should have ensured the plants were watered before they were despatched. I have also inspected the stock from which your plants were selected and my findings do not agree with your observations as the plants are to specification in respect of both height and quality. It is possible the wrong stock has been selected but this would be most unusual. As you've now completed the planting I would suggest you persevere with the plants (keeping them well watered and applying a nutrient will also help)as I'm sure they will prosper. Thank you for your feedback. Due to the cold start to this year, that has been the second coldest in half a century the growing season is about four weeks behind. Therefore you may yet find the Beech will prosper. I would suggest you scratch back with your finger nail a small amount of bark on a number of plants and if these are healthy this should reveal a green and moist surface. If the surface is dry and brittle the plants may have died, this can be due to a number of reasons including the watering regime followed. Please do keep us advised if the plants do not prosper (although a failure of 10% is the expected norm when planting with bare roots) and we can arrange to replace these in the next bare root season (October 2013 - April 2014), subject to you making a small contribution towards the cost of doing so.
