Therefore you may yet find the Beech will prosper. I would suggest you scratch back with your finger nail a small amount of bark on a number of plants and if these are healthy this should reveal a green and moist surface. If the surface is dry and brittle the plants may have died, this can be due to a number of reasons including the watering regime followed. Please do keep us advised if the plants do not prosper (although as detailed on our website a failure rate of 10% is the norm when planting bare roots) and we can arrange to replace these in the next bare root season (October 2013 - April 2014), subject to you making a small contribution towards the cost of doing so. Thank you for your feedback. I'm assuming what you mean by the Privet (Ligustrum Ovalifolium) plants lacking vigour is they had few leaves. This is quite common with Privet bare root plants as they generally defoliate after they have been lifted for transplanting. If the Privet has yet to prosper you may yet find they will begin to do so over the next few weeks.
