Over autumn/winter when the plants are dormant the leaves turn brown, and the plants hold onto these leaves. Now as the weather warms up healthy new green leaves will push through. Hi, Lovely to speak to you and thank you for your feedback. I am so sorry the Hornbeam you received was such poor quality. As discussed on our call I have arranged for fresh plants to be sent out to you. Hornbeam looks wonderful all year round. In autumn the leaves turn brown when the plants become dormant for the winter. The plants hold onto these leaves and now you will soon see lots of healthy green leaves that have pushed through. In spring, the fragrant cup shaped yellow flowers smother the stems and in autumn there are plentiful blue/black berries, which are attractive to birds.
