Hi Rebekah,

We’re sorry to hear of the experience you have had with Petplan. The consultant was correct instating that the issues prior to the 72 hours after policy signup are classified as pre-existing. If you would like more information on why pre-existing conditions apply please contact us on 1300 738 225.

Regarding waiting periods, our free policies have quicker waiting period of 72 hours rather than what is normal for many polices of 21 days. Once the free policy is up we do waiver the 21 day waiting period when you convert to a full policy. Unfortunately these waiting periods cannot be waived and any illness that happens during the 72 hours for free policies and prior to policy sign up are included as pre-existing and not covered.

You have the power to alter your policies and conditions but you choose not to because it makes you money. That's the business you're in and my choice is limited to one other insurer. You maximize value for shareholders by ripping people off! I'm just happy I didn't pay for this plan but it wasted my time and that's worth money to me. I also have no other option to rate you any lower.
