the main reason for the additional charge is the difference in fares between the two sailings. Pricing rules which are based on duration of stay are common practice in the travel industry and are based on the premise that customers who are away for a longer period are prepared to pay more that those who are only away for a day. In Red Funnel's case, if we flattened our vehicle fares then day return customers would be asked to pay more whilst 4+ night stays would be cheaper. Stena Line have done this on some of their routes where they carry very few day return customers. We hope this answers your questions.

Service is adequate, bit infrequent being winter. Service generally too expensive, again being winter meant better value, but also need a promo to get acceptable price.
