Hi Jonathan, good to know you had a great experience and many thanks for taking the time to feedback to us as it helps us improve our provision for the future. We will spend some time looking at how we can improve the route cards adding in more information as suggested. With regard to the refreshment stops & cable car times on the final day, which I think you are referring to, the Flegere refuge has been temporarily closed this summer due to the construction of the new cable car, the route card should have been updated to reflect this & I apologies for this oversight. Cable car operating times differ during the season, we tend to advertise the earliest closing time at 5pm so clients are not caught out on the mountain & have an unexpected descent with 2 hours of additional walking into the evening after a long day, which would spoil their final day and evening in Chamonix. Your comments about the Hotel Edelweiss are of concern to us as our choice of accommodation directly reflects on the service we offer & it is not acceptable if they give our clients a poor experience. We have contacted the Hotel Edelweiss with your concerns and they have apologised for the attitude of certain staff on the evening in question. They have ensured us that they will make sure the service is improved from now on. Kind regards from Chamonix,

There are two days on the Tour du Mont Blanc that are affected by phone coverage and we agree a satellite phone would be beneficial for the safety of all. Hi David, great to meet you & your group in Chamonix & many thanks for your feedback its much appreciated that you have taken the time to provide this. Id like to respond to some of the points mentioned as I feel some of your comments are a little unfair as personally I felt we provided an excellent service to you & your group at the time of booking, the information provided in the self guided pack & also during the meeting we had in Chamonix when you arrived. Some of your comments refer directly to the services we use e.g. bag transfer & accommodation & we can only hope that they offer the same level of service as we do and 99% of the time is what happens. I can only apologise if this was not the case for you. With regard to our route cards these have been written by myself and having trekked the route many times with groups I feel the times indicated for each stage reflect the overage walking pace on the Tour du Mont Blanc. People of course walk at all different paces & we ask you to take this into account, in respect of the times written on the signposts I cannot account for which pace has been used for these, personally I have spend many many years walking in this area & find the signs inconsistent, sometimes they are generous & other times not. I am not aware of poor maths, the route cards have been used for many years & we haven't had this comment before, however I will check to see if this is the case. We feel the self guided pack is comprehensive with daily route cards, detailed 1:25,000 maps & guide book, it is a pre-requisite of the trek that you can read a map & use this skill in conjunction with the other information provided in order to route find when the signage is poor. The bag transfer company used do an great job moving hundreds of bags each day for many groups, as mentioned in the information in the self guided pack & at the time when we met in Chamonix the bags can be collected any time from 8am & delivered to the next accommodation any time up to 6pm. I can understand that it is frustrating when you arrive before the baggage but we just ask our clients to be patient when this happens. Finally to the accommodation in Trient, I am sorry that you had such a poor experience on this night, the village is very small we only have two options in this location, this is the problem area for the Tour du Mont Blanc as many trekking providers will vouch for. Our first choice accommodation is the Auberge Grand Ourse but when this isn't available then we have no choice but to book the Auberge Mont Blanc. Jude diligently tried to book the Grand Ourse for you but this was not available on the night in question, we also request that when this isn't available that we are put on the waiting list in case of any cancellations & Jude will then also check again periodically. Unfortunately despite this we were still unable to book you into the Grand Ourse. We do mention in the accommodation notes that this is basic accommodation & I would ask if you could also feedback directly to the Auberge Mont Blanc so they can address some of these problems. Thank you for trekking with MBT, despite your comments I truly hope that you had an great trek.
