Hi Hemant,
Our locking requirements state that a Sold Secure approved lock must be used when your bike is left unattended in a public place. Sold Secure award all approved locks with a Bronze/Silver/Gold/Diamond security rating, and there's a minimum requirement which is dependant on the value of your bike.
Bike value under £250 - Bronze Rating
Bike value £251- £1500 - Silver Rating
Bike value over £1500 - Gold or Diamond Rating
There's many different styles of locks available on the market that meet these requirements e.g. D-locks, chain locks & foldable locks. We don't specify the style of lock which needs to be used, just that it needs to have the appropriate Sold Secure rating.
As your lock was not Sold Secure approved, unfortunately it does not meet these requirements.
We understand that claim rejections are upsetting, but our decision making is applied fairly and consistently in line with the policy terms and conditions. There are unfortunate occasions when policy wording requirements are not met, meaning that there is no cover in place.
