We have tried very hard to get this elderly customer to understand that we were trying to protect her rather than cause a problem. All transactions are checked for possible fraud, as is standard across all internet retail companies, to protect everyone. The customer's card was flagged initially as a possible problem and one of our colleagues, in an effort to be super-cautious, telephoned the customer to make sure that there wasn't a problem and that the customer was who she said she was and that there was no fraudulent use of a card. I personally phoned the customer later to clarify and re-confirm that the transaction had in fact eventually gone through and cleared the review and tried to reassure her that everything was indeed fine and that there was nothing for her to worry about. Sadly our efforts to be careful and considerate has caused the customer worry and distress which is the very thing we were trying to avoid!
