In regards to the wooden laths sitting close together this is how this particular design works as it doubles up as a shelf. All the sizes are displayed in the technical description, with the Gismo Clothes Airer which you have chosen the wooden laths can sit vertical or horizontal. The maximum distance is 3.5cm if sat vertical on the Gismo. We do have different designs of Airers which offer 10cm distance between laths, so there is something to suit everyone's requirements.
