Hawthorn is a native, deciduous species, so your plants will lose leaves during autumn/winter. New leaves and flowers will push through again in spring and they will eventually produce berries. So extra wildlife should hopefully be coming into your garden soon. Golden Privet is a semi-evergreen, which means the plants may lose some or all their leaves during a very cold winter. Lots of new leaves will push through again in spring and in summer they will produce creamy/white flowers that will attract lots of butterflies and bees and your new plants will really brighten up your garden with their yellow and green variegated leaves. They are slow growing evergreen plants with pretty clusters of small,, white flowers that smell amazing during the summer and will attract lots of butterflies and bees. Lonicera Nitida is an evergreen with tiny green leaves 🌿. Your new plants will knit together to form a beautiful dense hedge. They sometimes produce little white flowers in spring, and these will attract pollinating insects, and the dark berries that push through in autumn will feed hungry birds. In May and June its pink and white flowers will attract butterflies and bees, and then in autumn hungry birds will feed on the orange/red berries.
