Treatment of regular commuters, esp foot passengers is very poor and inconsiderate of needs. Regular late docking and disembarking has major impact on customers.

Sorry for the inconvenience, we are in the process of installing a brand new foot passenger gangway at our Southampton terminal and this means non-vehicle customers have to board via the main linkspan until it has been commissioned.

Generally we enjoy Red Funnel ,but yesterday not getting a decent seat on both trips 09.00 and 18.00 and having to feed a grumpy baby on a stool opposite the toilets was not acceptable ..

We do sympathise. If you find yourself in the same situation again please do ask the staff for help, they can usually locate empty seats somewhere. We are increasing the number of seats next year so that should help.

Thanks for feedback. Pricing rules which are based on duration of stay are common practice in the travel industry and are based on the premise that customers who are away for a longer period are prepared to pay more that those who are only away for a day. In Red Funnel's case, if we flattened our vehicle fares then day return customers would be asked to pay more whilst 4+ night stays would be cheaper. Stena Line have done this on some of their routes where they carry very few day return customers.
I live on the Island and I always use Red Funnel and to be honest 99% of the time it is fine. Does what it is meant to do. But yesterday was horrendous. They were still taking bookings for ferries...
