Hi,
Thank you for your review and taking the time to leave us feedback. We collect licence fees from UK businesses and organisations on behalf of our parent companies, PPL and PRS for Music. These are then distributed back to the artists whose music businesses all across the UK enjoy.
PPL and PRS members range from grassroots and independent artists and composers through to the biggest names in the business; PRS alone represent the rights for over 30 million works. Whilst I understand your objections to this, and it remains true that we distribute royalties based on the music most often played within businesses, we also distribute royalties to smaller artists, for whom this income can make an enormous amount of difference.
Our aim as PPL PRS Limited, and that of PPL and PRS for Music, is to be as transparent as possible as to revenues and distribution and our support for the industry through a range of initiatives, details of which are publically available. In regard to independent venues, we recognise that these are essential to the music sector and would encourage artists performing to submit their set lists via PRS to ensure that any relevant royalties are received.
We are able to provide support to customers and would be more than happy to discuss the payment plans that we can offer you to ensure you are able to continue utilising music within your business.
Should you require any further information, or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact us.
