car was clean and easy to collect from the Harbour, staff were courteous and helpful, but the fuel tank was less than a quarter full when I collected the car.

Nothing exceptional,but friendly efficient service by the counter staff.
Staff were not very helpful at all. There was definitely a' can't be bothered attitude'.

Thank you for replying to our customer service survey. Unfortunately because we do not accept Amex or Diners in the Channel Islands the benefits that either of those cards offer you if you pay with them may not be applicable in Guernsey. We do not charge customers for items that they do not want, the rental agreement identifies all charges which the customer signs for and agrees to prior to making payment. We do hope you will consider using Europcar Guernsey again in the near future - as you say you will not use Hertz in your comments!

Thank you for responding to our customer survey questionnaire the comments of which are noted.
Our fuel charge policy IS explained clearly on our website in our 'booking conditions and terms' which customers are asked to read carefully before accepting them (by ticking the 'agreed' box) prior to making payment for the rental reservation. I have below copied those details for you which explain the fuel policy that applies in the Channel Islands.
FUEL CHARGE POLICY
The policy for charging for fuel when renting vehicles in the Channel Islands with most car rental companies is factored on three specific items - approximate mileage which is calculated from fleet records, group of car / engine size and the relevant fuel prices at the time which can change weekly.
Europcar in the Channel Islands supplies HALF A TANK of fuel in every vehicle irrespective of the length of hire but have a different charge for each rental period for each type of vehicle. We therefore charge for UP TO and not necessarily the MAXIMUM of HALF A TANK of fuel. It is extremely unlikely considering the size of the islands that customers are likely to use a whole tank of fuel during their stay which is why we do not offer a ‘full to empty’ option. Because there are no re-fuelling facilities available directly on site at the airport or harbour in Jersey or Guernsey, previous and existing renters have indicated that they would rather not have the inconvenience of having to fuel or refuel a vehicle at the beginning or end of the hire which is why we do not offer a ‘full to full’ option. This therefore is the preferred and fairest method of charge to customers –you are NOT REQUIRED TO RE-FUEL THE VEHICLE. Please note we do not refund for fuel left in the vehicle at the end of the rental period.
