Across the Irish Insurance Industry, premiums have risen due to a number of factors. A sustained increase in the number of personal injury claims, higher court awards have all contributed to this. Your renewal in 2016 was €790. You changed your car on 23.12.2016 and you had to pay an additional premium of €135 for the change. The additional premium was to cover the car from December to your renewal in October 2017. You renewal of €950 was paid on 26.1017. The renewal is more expensive due to the upgrade in car from a 2011, Volkswagen Passat to a 2016, Skoda Octavia. Your new car has a higher specification and value, therefore would cost more to replace in the event of a claim.
