Sorry to hear the road surfaces weren’t well maintained and the driver was a little too eager on day 1 of your trip. Cycling in an out of Italian cities can be quite tricky and traffic can be an issue. Some cities are improving and the experience riding out in the countryside is often very good.

I am pleased that you had an enjoyable cycling holiday and also appreciate your bookings with us.

We are gradually trying to get GPX files on all of the cycling holidays we offer and this should speed up some of the arrivals into unfamiliar towns/cities.

I am pleased that the cycling holiday was largely successful and was fine once you set off. Many of Eurobike's customers originate from German speaking countries and will drive or on the train. However, you rightly point out that from the UK, the train services/transfers mean a late arrival into Bolzano. We always try and give travel advice for customers with a specific UK itinerary.

For next season, we will liaise with Eurobike to ensure that later arrivals from the UK are better catered for with suitable arrangements in place if the tour allows.

Thanks for your comments about the recent cycling holiday to Italy. We do not operate the holidays ourselves and work with different companies throughout Europe to offer the widest possible choice of cycling holidays.

The hotels are booked by the local offices and all of the bikes and route notes are organised outside of our office. Eurobike do lots of research into the routes and the hotels. On the Italian cycling holidays, you are further out of towns because of the luggage transfers. Many Italian cities have small, narrow and pedestriansed streets that are unsuitable for the mini-buses/vans so we cannot use the centrally located hotels on certain holidays.

There is generally always public transport nearby. The Eurobike reps usually speak English despite being a German speaking company. Sorry to hear that you had to wait around to receive a briefing, however this is rare and the welcome meetings usually cater for both English or German/Italian languages.

We do not offer as much detail as we could do about some of the tour specifics such as attractions or things to see along the way, but hope to improve on this for next year.

Helmets are a tricky issue because we always say to bring your own regardless of whether they are provided or not. It is always better to wear one that fits and is comfortable rather than borrow one that might not be suitable.

We are trying to obtain GPX files for all of the holidays next year that should make navigation easier when leaving the larger towns or cities.
