Thanks for leaving your feedback, and I'm sorry that you're unhappy with the way that your claim was processed.

I contacted Supercover, our policy administrator, straight after reading this. As you point out, the terms and conditions of your policy do not exclude phones bought from eBay, so this in itself won't have resulted in your claim being declined. We do however require that you provide sufficient evidence of ownership and that the phone is bought brand new, and I understand that this was a factor in the decision. Of course, if you feel that this outcome was unfair you've done the right thing by opening a complaint.

Regarding your payments, I understand that a full refund has now been processed for you, and that no additional premiums will be collected now that your policy has been cancelled.

I was really shocked to read your review, and on seeing it I immediately got in touch with Supercover to find out exactly what happened.

As I explained in my email to you at the time, an administrative error resulted in the wrong terms and conditions being referenced during the handling of your claim, and this led to it being mistakenly declined. I understand that once this was identified your claim was subsequently approved, but I'm sincerely sorry that we didn't get it right first time. I must assure you that this was a one-off mistake, and that Supercover have taken steps to ensure that it doesn't happen again.
