Thanks for your feedback, Claudia. I've looked into the matter and it would appear that the delay was caused by 2 things - your Guarantor taking a long time to complete the reference request form, and secondly the Guarantor's employer (the NHS) taking a long time to return their employment reference despite a great deal of chasing. We also note that these delays meant that the tenancy start date had to be put back for you and the landlord therefore lost 2 weeks rent as a result.
