That’s why we ensure these sums are always disclosed prior to the collection of any money and they’re also noted in our terms of business. I’m happy to confirm that we do not seek to profit from applying card charges. We apply a processing charge of 2% for credit cards and 1% for debit cards. We have only recently introduced a card charge having held out for many years despite many of our competitors applying charges for some time. The card charges levied on us by card issuers have increased over recent years and involve a fix sum per transaction on top of a varied % dependent on the type of credit card used with some as high as 3%. The charges we apply are designed only to cover the total cost of charges levied upon us, including the associated costs of dealing with indemnity claims, the maintenance of systems and compliance with PCI rules. It is not possible to mirror the exact cost each independent transaction carries and we have therefore sought to simplify the charging basis with a fixed % for each transaction in an attempt to cover the total sum of all costs levied on us.
