I’m genuinely sorry to hear that certain aspects of your stay were not up to expectations. While this is indeed an older property — and with that comes a degree of natural wear and character — we absolutely want it to be clean, comfortable, and safe for every guest. I am also sorry that you did not let us know about these issues whilst you were staying at the property, as we would have made every effort to rectify them.
Regarding your concerns:
Bathroom Ventilation and Mold:
Thank you for flagging this. Bathrooms in traditional Edinburgh tenement buildings can be prone to damp due to limited natural ventilation, particularly during periods of high occupancy or cooler weather. However, the level of mold you described would not be acceptable, and we’ve not found there to be a significant level when checking the flat every few days - that said, we have already instructed our housekeeping team to replace the shower curtain and carry out a thorough deep clean. We are also reviewing options to improve ventilation where possible within the limits of the building.
Cobwebs and Cleaning Standards:
We take cleaning seriously, and I apologise if this was missed. We’ve followed up directly with our cleaners to ensure more rigorous checks are done moving forward, especially in corners and high-level areas where cobwebs can build up quickly.
Furniture and Repairs:
Thank you for pointing out the issues with the chair and doorknobs. We’ve now logged these for immediate repair or replacement and are reviewing other furnishings to ensure there are no further safety concerns.
While older properties do come with their quirks — and sometimes limitations — we certainly want them to feel well maintained and properly cared for. Your comments are extremely helpful in making sure we stay on top of those standards.
Thanks again for your feedback, and I do hope we can welcome you back in the future for a more comfortable stay.
Warm regards,
The Edinburgh Address & Harpers Concierge
