We're somewhat confused by your comments, as we replied to your email received after we said we were leaving early, as follows: Our email 24/09 Thanks - as mentioned we enjoyed our holiday, the location of the house, and the views from it. However our overall impression of the property was one of being unkempt and unwelcoming, with a lack of care and attention to detail, and regular inspection. The directions have a key error in referring to wooden gates, when the gates next door are metal and have been for some time. Confusingly there are wooden gates next to the nursing home. For our own property, which also has a slightly confusing satnav entry we refer to a safe location - in our case the number of the house next door. The house manual looks to have been there for 8 or 9 years, and not updated, other than comments from guests, and there are now quite a few errors. There was no guest comment book in evidence. The outside areas were in need of a good clean and tidy, and the overall impression on arrival was not very welcoming. The proliferation of signs and notes helped give the impression of student accommodation, rather than for paying guests on holiday. The mattress in the first floor double bedroom seems long overdue for an upgrade. A few little essentials would have helped change the initial impression. The meter reading seemed particularly nit-picking - in our case we should have been due a refund of £11.70! Over the course of the season this probably saves a maximum of £200 on the overall bill, which is tax deductible in any case. The directions make reference to the cleaner not having much time which may explain why, that other than the essentials, less regular cleaning such as removing cobwebs appeared not to have been done. FYI the Freeview box in the main living room was not working, probably the remote is broken - we changed batteries to no avail. If there was a regular inspection, a lot of these issues would probably have been resolved, and one wonders how often the owners visit. Overall it was a house where with some tlc, and small investment, it could be transformed, but our overall impression was one of being delivered very much on watching the costs, rather than welcoming the guests, so we couldn't really recommend it to anyone, and on reflection we have been unable to find any reviews of it.
