The pipes in the ground to take the pegs to secure the base of the hangar door have given lots of problems over the winter. Firstly, when the weather was wet and the ground soggy, the metal pipes sink into the ground and it is nigh impossible to then pull them up again to the surface. Second, when the ground is very dry, the earth round the pipes gets crumbly. Then small bits of earth fall into the pipes especially when you are putting the pegs in. Progressively the pipes fill up with earth, so you have less and less depth in which to place the door pegs. It seems the only way to deal with this problem is to take a hand drill with a large size bit and try and drill out the earth which has fallen into the pipes, but that is not easy. Again, I strongly suggest these pipes should be redesigned with quite a large (say 8-10 cm) disk round the top, welded to the pipe. These disks would stop the pipe sinking in wet weather and also stop earth falling into the pipes in dry weather. Very simple, but would solve a couple of silly problems which are really irritating!
