The London Review of Books is so good I regret not taking it earlier. The articles are the right length for a subject to be reviewed in some depth, always by writers who demonstrate their knowledge...
Y'know, I mainly buy non-fiction or translated stuff. I hate what I - if no-one else - calls Brit-lit. By which I mean London supplements all reviewing their mates.
I vaguely expected the LRB to be...
Best magazine ever! I get most of my news and comment from LRB. The poetry could be more diverse but other than that it gets read cover to cover every fortnight.
The LRB contains substantial articles, with enough room to really achieve depth. It is informative and educational without being overly academic. Most of the writing is lively and engaging.
Unfortunately I seem to have purchased this year's subscription twice over so I am getting 2 copies each time. If possible can you cancel one copy. Many thanks.
They did well.
