Hi Judith, Our policy locking requirements are in place to ensure fairness and consistency for all customers in how bicycles are secured. We use the Sold Secure approval system for locks, which is the recognised industry standard in the UK. These requirements are made clear at multiple points on our website, and you’re asked to confirm that you’ve read and will comply with them before setting up a policy. This helps us make sure that all bikes are protected to the same standard, which in turn keeps the cover fair and consistent for everyone. For an e-bike to meet our policy definition of a cycle, and for us to be able to insure it, it must also meet the government's requirements for an‘electrically assisted pedal cycle’ (EAPC). An EAPC must be pedal assisted, have a maximum continuous rated power output of 250 watts and only be assisted by the motor up to 15.5mph. Unfortunately we are unable to provide cover for en e-bike which does not meet these requirements. Our free cover policy is valid only within the UK, but worldwide cover is available with our annual policies. When it comes to locks, we follow the Sold Secure industry standard. This ensures all bikes are protected to the same level, keeping our cover fair and consistent for everyone.
