Thank you for providing your feedback and giving us an opportunity to respond. Firstly, I would like to congratulate you on your success gaining your qualification. Your journey to qualification, passing your first test in October 18 and then going on to qualify in July 19, having used the trainee licence to gain extra experience with students was great progress. We fully support the use of the trainee licence, when requested, however as you are aware we stipulate that in addition to meeting the DVSA requirements, there must be a proven business demand to support a new instructor, and that you meet a minimum level of competence throughout your training. The trainee partner offer is priced and structured accordingly to promote opportunity for learning with the recommendation to focus on delivering between 20 and 30 hours per week, thus enabling enough opportunity to reflect on the lessons delivered and to then continue to prepare for your final test to become qualified. It appears clear that you feel we have not met your expectations. This is disappointing especially as we have allocated more than 10 new students within the first 6 weeks of your trainee licence. Most students typically completing a 2-hour lesson per week, falls in line with what is communicated from the very first handout “Planning your course of learning” within the training course. A continual allocation of students from the school as well as additional business support to assist with your diary management, local promotion and supporting your theory classroom initiative with advice and resources, has been delivered at what we would consider is the right time for transition between a trainee licence and operating as a fully qualified driving instructor. I understand you are continuing to work with your Regional Business Manager and our Business Support Team to help develop your business and trust that your new skills will warrant a return.
