Thanks for your feedback. We use the highest quality halogen dichroic bulbs which have a reflector that directs light forward and heat backwards. Due to the way our lights are designed the heat from the bulb goes out of the venting on the back of the lamp head, rather than down onto you and your reading material. I am sorry to hear that you are finding adjusting the dimmer switch uncomfortable. You might like to consider swapping your light for either the Alex LED which runs cooler to the touch, or the High Definition which has a separate dimmer and on/off switch. Alex Founder
