Hi Janet, many thanks for taking the time to feed back to us. I am sorry that you felt that the route description was not detailed enough as this is not the usual feedback we receive from our self guided clients. In the self guided pack we provide daily route cards with each main stage for the day broken down into sections giving a description, height gain, descent & distance. These route cards are to be used in conjunction with the 1:2500 IGN maps & the Cicerone guidebook that were included in the pack. It is a prerequisite of a self guided trek that our clients have navigational experience and can interpret the detailed information sent and when this is not the case it does have an impact on the smooth running of the trek and the overall trekking experience. With regard to the standard itinerary chosen at the time of booking depending on fitness levels we can tailor the trek to suit your needs and of course if clients feel that the distances & elevation are too long then we can add in an extra night to make it less challenging. With any of our treks its always worth reading the trek grading & fitness & preparation information before you book to make sure its right for you. Nonetheless I hope you enjoyed the challenge of trekking in these beautiful mountains. Kind regards from the Chamonix valley, Sara
