Many Thanks for your service rating and detailed feedback, we appreciate it. We're delighted to hear the pre- arrival information and the detailed travel / trekking pack were welcomed. Whilst we appreciate more folks are leaning towards electronic devices these days even for trekking, we much prefer the hard copy maps and waterproof daily route cards, they wont run out of battery or fail in bad weather. We do offer the option of a pre-trek meeting at additional charge, as you mention, subject to notice and a Guide being available. Initially we ask clients to await the detailed travel / trekking pack, which is distributed in plenty of time prior to start date, and to then take the opportunity to study it, and raise any questions at that time. I believe we received your request for a pre-trek briefing with only a few days notice prior to your arrival date, which was just too late for us to assist on this occasion. For any urgent questions / concerns whilst trekking, your trekking pack provides a direct phone number into the Mont Blanc Treks Office and we ask clients to text or call, which will be answered that day. I see you chose to email, which does take a little longer to reply, albeit the next day. Whilst we welcome your suggestions about check-ins along the way, and a personal welcome back at trek end, our main aim is to keep the trek prices competitive and good value for money, and would suggest this may add a significant cost to an already highly personalised service. It's great to hear you've had family and friends ask about your trekking adventure, and for further recommendations they may wish to take the opportunity to read the many Feefo reviews listed here, and take comfort that they will be looked after well. Hi John, firstly many thanks for taking the time to feedback to us. I have to be completely honest I am perplexed by your comments, it's unusual and isn't something we usually receive. We pride ourselves on the personal service we offer to all our clients from initial enquiry, booking, pre trek information and during the trek. The usual feedback we receive reflects this claim. In response to your specific comments... 1. Website and pre trek information: Our website is incredibly detailed, it has been written by ourselves and developed over many years. Alex (who guided you on the TMB) and myself are responsible for all enquires, we know the route so well, which means we can offer detailed information about the routes we offer. Once a booking has been processed our clients received a wealth of information during the months prior to the trekking holiday. We send a guide book via the post that gives our clients a detailed daily description, distances, height gain and descent, together with 1:25,000 IGN mapping. Periodically Jacinta sends links to essential pages on our website that help with planning & preparation before arrival. We are always here to help with any additional questions you might have. 2. Trek costs: Our trek price is set competitively in relation to the level of service offered. We use the best possible accommodation in each location, our guides are paid extremely well and the additional services are well sourced and trouble free. All additional costs that are not included are itemised in your personalised booking document which is downloadable from 'Manage My Booking' using your log in details sent when the booking is confirmed, this information is also on the website on the trek itinerary page. This is reiterated at the trek briefing. It is absolutely not a 'nickelled and dime' approach. Meals in Chamonix and Courmayeur are not included because there are many fabulous restaurants for folks to choose from. Also from experience we find that our clients prefer to have some time to themselves during the trek and not necessarily stay as a group from start to finish. Cable cars are not included, however the cost for this is itemised beforehand. I am not aware that there are any costs for buses. The only bus needed to be taken on the TMB is in the Val Veny and this is free of charge. 3. End of trek meal: A final celebratory meal is often arranged if the group express an interest in this, this completely depends on the make up of the group & the wishes of those involved. 4. In the Alps the ratio of UIMLA guide to clients on the TMB is 1:14, we think this is excessive. The maximum we allow is 12 in a group. Our guides are extremely experience and are able to deal with every eventuality. In the event that there is a problem for any reason, I, as a qualified guide, leave myself available during the summer season so I am on hand to assist with any group as and when needed. I am sorry to read your comments regarding not trekking with us in the future, we have many repeat clients that we had the pleasure of sharing fabulous mountain moments with over the years and who have subsequently become good friends.
