House Sitters Canada is a meeting place for owners and sitters to find each other and negotiate house sitting opportunities. As a result, we don’t screen or vet our members (owners or sitters). However, we do take any concerns raised seriously and want to ensure all our members are acting respectfully and with integrity. I'm very sorry that your confirmed sitter cancelled your arrangement and that this caused you such stress. We would not expect a confirmed sit to be cancelled unless there were significant issues that require this to occur, such as illness, impending extreme weather or a family emergency. Unfortunately we don't have any record of you contacting us about this cancellation as we would have been able to discuss this with you and offer assistance to find a replacement sitter as well as follow up any concerns raised about the initial sitter's cancellation. We do take any concerns raised seriously and we expect all our members to communicate respectfully including keeping in regular contact and providing updates if their situation changes and they may no longer be available.
