The hazard warning label on the Cambridge Traditional Timber Reviver is legally required because it contains turpentine. The wording of the label is legally required to be exactly the same as for a 5 Gallon drum of neat turpentine. Turpentine is regarded as a hazardous substance for the following reasons:
1. Turpentine is flammable, although, in its diluted form in the reviver you would have heat the product up using a flame or electric ring to cause ignition. Which you would have no reason to do so.
2. Long-term exposure to the fumes from heated turpentine can cause lung damage. This simply does not apply in using the made up product.
3. Contact with the skin can cause irritation in some people, so it ought be a sensible precaution to wear rubber gloves when applying the reviver. Any residual turpentine on a treated beam completely evaporates off within 20 minutes of application. Many of the alternative solvents found in polishes are substantially more allergenic.
4. Cambridge Traditional Timber Reviver is poisonous – so please don’t drink it
5.It is harmful to aquatic organisms – so if you should decide to empty your container into a pond, stream or lake, you will undoubtedly kill some fish.
Thank you for the feedback we will add this information to the website.
