I'm sorry to hear you weren't happy with the leech socks! The seam in the middle is a flat seam and the fabric is very thin so most people don't seem to notice it - we've only ever had positive feedback before.

The difficult bit is folding the spreader hoop. You have to twist it into a figure of eight shape, and then keep twisting as you bring your hands together, one above the other. You should end up with three loops stacked on top of each other - not two. Where people often go wrong is to stop twisting after getting the figure of eight and then try and fold the two loops on top of each other, which doesn't work.
