Please note that we use authentic brass screws, not coated brass screws, to keep in line with the traditional aesthetic of the brass finger plate. As brass is a soft metal, it is advisable to pre-drill the pilot hole, as this helps to prevent any bending or damage during installation. Sorry to see you have an issue with the screw rod it may be the case that it hit a knot in the joist or the hole wasn't drilled long or wide enough. But if you send us an email over to support@castinstyle.co.uk we can forward you a guide on how to remove the rest of the screw rod out of your ceiling and sort a replacement out for you.
