I am so sorry that this gift did not arrive in time for a special birthday. It is very rare for items to go missing in transit, but it does happen. As soon as we became aware that the delivery had not reached the recipient we dispatched a replacement order. As an apology I have added a store credit to your account for the value of the gift.

It is always disappointing when customer expectations are not met. I am sorry that this gift was not delivered as you expected. This order was dispatched as a single consignment from our warehouse. The order itself consisted of 2 boxes as our packaging is only designed for 6 bottles per box (your order was for 8 bottles). When the courier collected the boxes they gave each box a number, i.e. "Box 1 of 2" and "Box 2 of 2". Our expectation is the same as yours, which is that both boxes would have been delivered at the same time. Once we hand a package over to the courier, it is in their hands to deliver it and we trust them to do so in the most efficient way. I can only assume that the boxes became separated somewhere on their journey, and even though it would have been preferable for them to arrive together, I am pleased that the recipient got both boxes within a day of each other. I hope they are now enjoying the wine.

I'm very sorry that the shipment was delayed - a combination of strike action and the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II have held up deliveries incoming to us and also outbound to customers. It's not the usual service we provide and I'm sorry that the communication wasn't better to explain the delay. I have emailed you separately with a goodwill gesture to apologise for the delay.
