Hi Sue, Thank you for your review! I always laugh with the husbands of our lady walkers when they say "the wife needs a bag to herself... I dont know why!" I always reply that its nice for her to be able to take some nice clothes for the evening , her hairdryer and little extras to make herself feel special in the evenings instead of hiking in boots, hair all over the place and feeling a mess! I am pleased that you had a lovely holiday and even more pleased that we were able to make that more enjoyable for you by moving your bags whilst you walked. We have been called "Luggage Fairies" as not a lot of our walkers actually get to meet the drivers as they have gone on their way before they arrive to pick up bags! Thank you for your comments about the prices.. we do try to remain competitive and to be fair, our prices have only increased three times in the ten years that we have been operating. The note on the last day is just a personal touch to let you know that your bags have been moved by real people, that we value your custom and to wish you a safe journey home, which for a lot of our customers is home to another country after their holiday here. Hi Anna, Thank you for your comments.We do try to remain competitive with our pricing and as it was you were walking the Two Moors Way which is more expensive than the coast path. We did try to use the same formula as we do on the coast, however we found that our drivers were out of pocket because the Moors can be a bit of a nightmare with roads that go on for ever. We spoke with all the local taxi guys to compare prices and most of them told us they would not get out of bed for less than £35! I think we managed that as all your transfers were £27 each.. With regards to not having your bags delivered to your room, firstly our drivers are a door to door service which is stated in your confirmation... "Please ensure your bags are ready by 9.00am each morning as depending on your location it is possible your bags may be the first on the drivers transfer list for the day, and if a driver has to wait for bags it makes him/ her late for the rest of their transfers. So we do ask, please have your bags ready and waiting by 9am. Thank you! YOU will need to bring your bags downstairs to a convenient place in the accommodation for our drivers to collect them from. Our drivers work from door to door, not room to room! " If our drivers were to injure themselves whilst in an accommodation either by tripping or falling with bags then the accommodation would be facing a hefty insurance claim As our drivers are self employed, if they hurt themselves they would not be able to work. Once a delivery is made to an accommodation it is usually the proprietor who will take the bags to a room once it has been serviced.. you will appreciate that when deliveries are made during the day, some rooms may not have been cleaned so bags get taken up later. Also some accommodation providers are not willing to hurt their backs carrying a walkers luggage if it is extremely heavy and will leave it downstairs for the walker to take up themselves. Again, if they damage themselves they cannot work and it is their livelihood at risk. On the odd occasion where there is a little old landlady, our driver may help her out and take the bags upstairs but our driver protocol is simply to deliver to the accommodation and not take bags to rooms. I do hope you had an enjoyable holiday on the Moors, should you decide to walk part of the South West Coast Path with us you will find that prices are generally cheaper with the exception of the areas which have lots of rivers and estuaries as the drivers have ferry costs or have to drive right round.... however the situation with the bags will still be the same... unless the providers take them up to your room before your arrival.
